Welcome!

iza + GIS = iGISza

Hi, I'm Iza!

Passionate about all things geo: -graphy, -spatial, -logy.

iGISza is my portfolio exploring the space where science meets visual creativity.

Geography & GIS

I hold a BSc in Physical Geography from Aberystwyth University in Wales, UK. It was during my studies that I discovered Geographic Information Systems (GIS), which developed into a lasting interest in geospatial analysis, mapping and the ways spatial information can be explored and communicated visually.

Since then, I've gained hands-on experience with a range of GIS tools, including ArcMap, ArcGIS Pro, ArcGIS Online and QGIS. I'm also developing my skills in Python and SQL, with a focus on their application to spatial data analysis.

Science & Visual Art

Alongside my geospatial background, art has been a long-standing part of my education. I studied Visual Arts throughout secondary and upper secondary education in Romania, graduating with a diploma.

I look to the tradition of the old masters, who used drawing and visual observation not only to create, but also to study, document and understand the world around them.

Digital Work

My interest in front end web development grew from wanting to present geospatial information and visual works online.

I use HTML, CSS and JavaScript to build and experiment with interactive portfolio pieces (this or my art gallery), while continuing to explore new tools and techniques across both the technical and creative sides of my work.

Projects & Explorations

From maps and spatial data to rocks, minerals, landscapes and scientific illustration, this portfolio brings together GIS projects, environmental and geological studies, visual design and digital work. It reflects my interest in exploring the world through both analytical and creative approaches.

Stay curious and keep exploring!
